A Servant

Sometimes (if not often) it is not a servant’s job to know the big picture. Yes, we know the biggest picture – what ultimately will happen – as described in the Bible. But I need not worry about who I will marry, how many kids I will have, whether or not I will be able to have kids, how many people I will influence, where I will live, etc. It is my job to obey God’s instructions. What are the tasks He’s given me to do today? Who can we bless right now, in this moment?

Surprise

God likes to surprise us. He likes to do the unexpected. To keep us on our toes. To give us peace, because worrying about what’s coming next won’t do us any good. Think about this…..what is one of the most fun and rewarding things you can do for someone you love? I don’t know about you, but I love being surprised and I LOVE surprising people. Giving someone something they didn’t expect and seeing their excited response. I think that we as Christians – or at least me – try to control things too much and want to know exactly what God is doing. Why can’t I trust Him? Why can’t I just let Him surprise me? Imagine the joy God must feel from watching OUR faces light up in excitement, when He does something.
